ORIGIN OF HORN BOY
ORIGIN OF HORN BOY
Thick forest trees high standing atop hills of Bush Pott-Harcourt, whisking wind with clouds dark voice of a Reindeer crying, a female and I can feel her pains in its echoes. A hunters' arrow must have struck her I say to myself as I journey my path to pick herbs for my husband who's been sick. Further steps the Reindeer whines louder and never stops like a woman going through child birth, at this point I can't control my emotions anymore. Running across the hills to where the cry comes from are thongs and shrubs stinging revealing little of my blood.
I endure pains in hopes to rescue the Reindeer from what pains she must be going through, I arrive to my greatest surprise seeing a Reindeer giving birth to a child of human form. Do I flee or stay I contemplate, a sight not of normal human creation, how is it possible? I stand and watch as the Reindeer pushes out a complete human child, the baby cries. Mother Reindeer runs away fast leaving behind a little boy, I go closer the baby stops crying no clothes on him, I can't leave an innocent child to die of cold in the wild.
I take off my jacket, pick the boy up wiping away some blood and wrap him to keep warm as I go across the hills back home in haste to wash the poor child whose mother ran away. On my way I keep starring at the cute boy, he has a round face, blue eyes beautiful smile with chin bones obvious from birth, two dark spots on his forehead, I rub my palm across to feel what's it. Lumps at the spot, it may go down as he grows. Arriving home I clean the child, he cries and in need of food, I take a bold decision, adopt the child as my own and breastfeed him.
